Shihan John should be calling Saruta sensei sometime in the coming weeks to talk about some upcoming candidates to test for shodan and nidan. I'm sure we'll find out more then and will let you know when I find out.
The Knighthawk Armoury builds some interesting realistic looking goshinken. They're expensive but they claim to be pretty durable (not yet tested by us).
