Greeting esteem members of our Ryuseiken Batto-Do group. It is an honor and a privilege for Maria and I to be new members of Tucson’s Batto-Do group.
I would like to ask the group if anyone knows of on-line resources for helping us correctly practice the first Kihon Kame Waza, Kiri Waza, Kihon Kata (i.e. step by step photos and or video) and prepare for Saturday’s training so we can practice the various important basics we have been introduced to by our honorable Shihan John McGraugh.
If Somone in the Ryuseiken Battodo group could do something similar by posting videos for the Ryuseiken Katas on Youtube it would help a lot.
(Especially for those of us who are in living in Flagstaff where there is no Eastern sword style classes offered within walking distance of N.A.U. Campus.)
They could also post them in High definition windows media player format on this official site.
Posting these demonstration videos on Youtube would also increase global awareness of the Ryuseiken school of Swordsmanship.
This could increase local membership and support.
I know that Shihan McGraugh is in the process of making some Ryuseiken Batto-Do videos demonstrating various katas, stances, cutting sequences, etc . I’ll post more info on them once they get closer to being finished. For now, the only videos really available for Ryuseiken Batto-Do specifically are the videos of everyone doing tameshigiri on this site. There’s not a lot, but you can find videos of people doing kihon-toho, rokkudan-giri, and tsubamegaeshi.
The Knighthawk Armoury builds some interesting realistic looking goshinken. They're expensive but they claim to be pretty durable (not yet tested by us).
