Hello,
I happened across this site semi-accidentally, but thought I would join.
I trained in Ryuseiken for a shot time before graduating from CFHS, and I have probably forgotten more than I remember.
I found a site that sells wooden Bokuto with a Saya!

These are so cool!
Take a look!

Katana:

Wakizashi:

The Bokuto come complete with a Saya and Sageo.
(You can even pick the Sageo color. :D )
Sageo come in black, blue, red, cream and brown

I feel these would be a great addition to the class as they would feel more like holding a real sword. Students could also practice sword drawing and sheathing…

I feel these would be a great addition to the class as they would feel more like holding a real sword. Students could also practice sword drawing and sheathing techniques effectively with a Saya. Also beginning level students would be able to learn proper Saya and Sageo handling techniques without all the inherent dangers in handling a real sword.

They have them for sale here about halfway down the page:
http://www.nukitsuke.com/?page_id=41

I feel these would be very useful in practicing Kata that involve sword drawing and sheathing.
From Nukitsuke to Chiburi and Nohtoh these could become invaluable learning tools.

I'm Buying one :D
But I'm keeping my old Bokuto in the new Saya. New Membertag:battodo.ning.com,2008-01-13:1153601:Topic:27642008-01-13T02:47:08.000Zrawnshahhttp://battodo.ning.com/profile/rawnshah
Hi, I'm Sean. I just joined, I was wondering what brand of Katana yall used? I own a Masahiro Cherry Blossom Katana, Which I don't think is anywhere near the level of quality of your Katanas. Anyways, I guess I just wanted to introduce myself. Later.

Batto-do BBQ!tag:battodo.ning.com,2007-10-12:1153601:Topic:9812007-10-12T18:32:32.000Zrawnshahhttp://battodo.ning.com/profile/rawnshah
For a while now, Bianca Sempai, Shihan and myself have been talking about having a BBQ at the park. It would include all the students from the high school, the U of A class and the hombu class. We'd probably have food, maybe do a little cutting and otherwise just hang out, talk about Batto-do and bond. It would be a great chance to get to know other people who practice Batto-do (and it would also be a lot of fun!). Anyway, Shihan is super busy, especially after recently adding more Hiraido…

Anyway, Shihan is super busy, especially after recently adding more Hiraido classes, so Bianca Sempai and I thought that we should organize it ourselves. That being said, any and all help is appreciated. When would be good for everyone? Is Himmel Park alright? Is there anything you would like to include besides what I already mentioned? Any suggestions you all have would be great!
I'm currently looking into where we can get a new tameshigiri/cutting stand.
